glossary
cotton fibers
We work to source cotton fibers that have an improved environmental impact through practices like organic and regenerative cultivation or recycled fibers that reduce agricultural inputs.
i. Organic Cotton: Cotton grown without synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, or genetically modified seeds
ii. Regenerative Organic Cotton:In addition to following organic practices, this cotton also includes practices aimed to improve soil and biodiversity health
iii. Recycled Cotton: Cotton fiber generated from pre or
post-consumer waste
manmade cellulosic fibers
We work with companies that source from responsibly
managed forests and who commit to protecting ancient
and endangered forests.
i. Tencel™ Lyocell: Fibers derived from controlled or certified wood sources using a resource-saving, closed loop production process
ii. Tencel™ Modal: Fibers derived from controlled or certified wood sources
iii. Tencel™ Lyocell made with REFRIBA™ technology: Manmade cellulosic fiber made from 30% cotton textile waste
other natural fibers
From hemp grown without pesticides to using rubber from responsibly managed forests to prioritizing recycled fibers, we always look for best in class materials to create our products.
i. Hemp: A fast growing fiber that typically doesn’t need synthetic pesticides or fertilizers
ii. Recycled Rubber: Rubber generated from pre or post-consumer waste
iii. Forest Stewardship Council® Certified Rubber: Natural rubber that comes from responsibly managed forests
animal fibers
We prioritize recycled fibers and when using virgin animal fibers we source materials that are certified to meet the RDS and RWS animal welfare standards.
i. Responsible Wool Standard (RWS): Wool fiber generated from pre
or post-consumer waste
ii. Responsible Down Standard (RDS): Feathers and down fiber generated from pre or post-consumer waste
iii. Recycled Silk: Silk fiber generated from pre or post-consumer waste
iv. Responsible Down: Feathers and down from duck and geese raised
in accordance to animal welfare practices
chemistry
We work to use preferred chemistry and chemical management best practices that reduce risk to consumers and the water, air, and land.
i. bluesign® Approved Fabrics: A fabric that has been made
with chemicals and processes that meet strict safety and environmental standards.
ii. Designed without PFAS: Per- and poly fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are not intentionally used in
our products.

*All of our materials adhere to our Restricted Substance List (RSL). This list includes all the chemicals we don’t allow in our products. Many are thanks to government regulations, but our list goes well beyond the bare minimum, ensuring that our clothing is as responsibly manufactured as possible.
synthetic fibers
We work to source recycled synthetic fibers that reduce waste by diverting discarded materials from the waste stream.
i. Recycled Polyester: Polyester fiber generated from pre or
post-consumer waste
ii. Recycled Nylon: Nylon fiber generated from pre or
post-consumer waste
