How did you begin climbing?
The first true experience I remember with climbing was scrambling on the granite boulders beneath Lower Cathedral in Yosemite Valley. This quickly led to scaling the 80-foot redwood trees in my family’s front yard, and then a slew of birthday parties and summer camps at the local climbing gym.
How do you tap into a flow state when climbing?
For me, flow in climbing is the culmination of dozens of analytical observations and intentions. Crucially, though, that state of effortless movement only comes when you are confident enough in that analysis to allow those conscious thoughts to dissipate, and your body to move freely up the wall.

Describe yourself in three words.
Adventurous. Creative. Driven.
How has climbing influenced your thoughts on originality?
Originality within climbing is core to the overall experience. With no two moves alike, you need to embrace the unknowns of each climb and constantly train your ability to come up with creative solutions in demanding environments.
