How did you begin painting?
I got into pottery during my undergraduate program. I was a fine art major studying photography when I took my first ceramics class. I was immediately taken by the beauty of clay as an art medium!
How do you tap into a flow state in the studio?
Being a potter requires a lot of physical energy and patience. To tap into my flow state is to drop out of my head and into my body. When I’m in flow, I’m not just working on the clay, because it feels much more spiritual than that. I am co-creating with Earth itself.

Describe yourself in three words.
Passionate, inquisitive, confident.
Why was it important to you to create a studio that centers self-expression for both you
and your community?
I believe that having a safe space for self-expression and creative exploration is pivotal to both personal growth and a thriving community. I wanted to create a space for people to learn, grow, play, and use their unique creative voice. Spaces like this are where art, culture, and important conversation begin.
