GIVE AWARENESS

The Edible Schoolyard Project

Garden, Kitchen & Closet as Classroom
Edible Schoolyard Project supports and nurtures our children and their role in the garden by bringing a greater awareness to the link between sustainable practices in schools and on farms.
Why we believe in the Edible Schoolyard Project... When it comes to responsible sourcing and organic produce, the questions we can ask of our food are similar to those we can ask of our clothing. The mission of the Edible Schoolyard Project is extremely important to us because we are both striving for fundamental change in how our industries impact the environment and surrounding communities.
By sharing this amazing organization with you, we hope to not only give awareness to an important cause, but also provide a resource for further inspiration as we work to lessen our impact on the environment with respect for the planet and its people.
Visit the site for information on how you can get involved and make a donation.

Teaching Sustainable Practices in Schools The Edible Schoolyard Project was founded in 1995 by Alice Waters: chef, author, food activist, and founder and owner of Chez Panisse. In partnership with a principal at a public middle school in Berkeley, they created a dedicated coalition of educators, families, farmers, cooks, and artists that continue to grow sustainable programs in their communities.

What is Give Awareness? We created the Give Awareness initiative to support like-minded causes by bringing greater awareness to their efforts through partnerships, social shares, and donations.
No matter how big or small the effort may seem, our collective efforts can have a tremendous and positive impact on the planet. We’re proud to support the Edible Schoolyard Project by sharing their story and donating to their cause as they continue to bring healthy food and a nourishing education into schools.
