Going Old (Grade) School: 3 Rs of Recycled Poly
Wondering why recycled poly is so important to the success of the apparel industry?
Polyester is a man-made, synthetic fiber made from coal, air, water, and oil.
63 million tons of polyester fiber are produced annually.
49% of global fiber production is polyester, making it the most widely used fiber in the apparel industry.
Choose recycled poly and you can positively influence our use of finite resources, along with the environmental and social impact they have on the planet and its people.
Reduce + Reuse + Recycle = New Life Reduce + Reuse + Recycle = New Life
Reduce +
Reduce our dependence
on petroleum.
Diverting PET bottles
reduces landfill and soil
The polyester and
post-consumer plastic
bottles already exist.
Reusing existing poly
means we aren’t using
valuable, virgin resources.
+ Recycle
Poly can be continuously
recycled without degradation.
This means future CLOSED
LOOP system.
We already buy plastic & paper
products made from recycled
materials. Then recycle them
again. Clothing has the same cycle built into it. [1]
