Deep Sleep Bedtime Drink
A restful night of sleep is as important to maintaining the health of the body as the food we eat. The benefits of a good night’s sleep impact nearly every area of our daily life, including our physical health, longevity and emotional health. In my work as an Ayurvedic Wellness Counselor, I see many people who struggle with sleep and addiction to prescription sleep aids. Along with other lifestyle and diet changes I recommend a warming and nourishing bedtime drink.
The word Rasayana refers to the rejuvenation process that occurs during sleep. This drink will assist your body in its healing process and calm the mind to better prepare you for a GREAT night’s sleep:
- 1 cup almond milk
- 1/8 tsp. each ginger, cardamom and cinnamon
- 1 tsp. raw organic honey
- ¼ tsp. ashwagandha
Warm the almond milk in a saucepan and whisk in the 3 spices. While this is heating, add your ashwagandha to the honey in your cup, stirring this into a paste.
Once the milk mixture is warm pour into your prepared cup.
