San Gabriel Mountains National Monument Protected
Last week, President Obama permanently protected 346,177 acres by designating the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument! Conservation Alliance memberships contributed to the success of this designation, and we are proud to celebrate with you by sharing the news! As residents of SoCal, we couldn’t be happier to have another beautiful wild place protected.
“President Obama designated the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument in Southern California, permanently protecting 346,177 acres of Forest Service land. The San Gabriel Mountains are within a 90-minute drive of 17 million people in the greater Los Angeles area, making it one of the most accessible monuments in the country. We are proud to support this project through our membership in The Conservation Alliance. “
This the 13th National Monument designated by President Obama and we are confident that this will not be his last. In his speech today, he said “I am not finished yet”. Our members contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to monument campaigns in recent years, and we look forward to celebrating with you again in the coming months and years.
