Paul Robinson Down Under
We just received this update from Paul Robinson from Australia and wanted to share…
Flying to Australia from the states is like traveling through time. I left on a Tuesday from LAX and 14 hours later had crossed the international date line and landed in Sydney on Thursday. After a very long drive to the Grampians and a few days of getting over jet lag, I began to see the potential of this incredible climbing area.
After a few days of climbing on moderates, I hiked up to the famous “Ammagmamma,” V13 to give it an initial attempt. After warming up, and climbing a few other climbs in the area, I began trying the boulder! It definitely lived up to expectations. The rock and the movement were some of the best I have ever climbed on and i felt so lucky to have had the opportunity to have sent such a perfect line.
Since that day, my main focus has been on discovering new areas in the Grampians. I have also made some repeated of some of the hardest boulders int he Grampians. Now that I have done this, I am again on the search for the next great boulder. I have traveled all the way around the world in hopes of finding a line that maybe will mimic the grandeur of Ammagamma. There are only a handful of incredible boulders in the world and i hope one day that i have established at least one of them! More updates to come soon…
