We’ve all been there. We’re in class and see a demo of a pose we do all the time and think, “I don’t do that pose that way.” Or we get an adjustment and think, “That feels totally different.” Maybe it feels amazing; maybe it feels awkward. But those learning moments are a reminder that strong teacher and a sense of community enhance a yoga practice.

The above video by Dharma Richards is an awesome example. It’s breakdown of our old friend, the sun salutation. Whether you’ve been doing yoga for five weeks or five years, videos like this are a way to rethink your practice or start a practice at home. The ease of starting and maintaining an at-home practice is really close to our hearts at Yoga Bear—a national non-profit organization connecting cancer survivors, patients and caregivers with free yoga classes.

Yoga Bear is a national 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to promoting more opportunities for wellness and healing to the cancer community through the practice of yoga.

Videos like Dharma’s are essential for our community. As Yoga Bear has evolved over the last few years, we’ve realized that many of our members are looking for ways to practice at home—but we want to replicate the supportive, communal feel of a class. And that means lots of videos!

For some of our members practicing at home is the best—or only—option. Some people are new to yoga and intimidated about walking into a class full of pros. (For some awesome tips for newbies, check out advice from one of our superstar members, yoga teacher and cancer survivor, Jean Di Carol Wagner.) Others are unable to afford classes or find appropriate classes for survivors in their communities.

That’s where we come in. And maybe where you come in! We would love input from the prAna community. If you have videos to share or advice for people impacted by cancer and looking for local yoga resources, let us know. We’d love for you to join our community and share your knowledge and support with our amazing yogis!

Thanks for reading!
