Women’s Amber Capri Legging Review

March 3rd, 2011

I am beyond excited about our new Amber Capri Legging. I have been eyeing these cuties since we started photographing them almost a year ago! I was so anxious for February when they were going to be in stock, literally counting down the days! I haven’t taken these leggings off since I purchased them. I splurged and got both colors and they were well worth the price. I may have to order some back up pairs because I wear these everywhere. As an avid hot yoga practitioner, they need a washing after every class. I was thoroughly impressed by the outcome after numerous washings. No fading, no shrinking, just perfect condition.

These leggings are fashionable, flattering and functional. I not only wear these to yoga but also around town! The tie-dyed beauties are great paired with a funky pair of boots (while the weather is still mild), a chunky sweater and some cute accessories. When the weather starts to warm up, they will look fabulous with gladiators, a tunic and one of our fun fedoras. BTW, these are super flattering, the higher rise smoothens you out and the forgiving cotton, spandex blend feels great. They are also environmentally friendly and are made with the organic cotton. I have received numerous compliments on these leggings and highly recommended them to anyone!

Don’t just take my word either… I asked some girls in our Product Development department why they love these leggings (since I’ve seen the girls sporting them around the office) and this is what they had to say;

1.       The color:  The black is basic and the iron is unique.  We own both colors.  Some days we are feeling standard black with a basic tee, and other days we are feeling the iron to mix it up and stand out.  Plus the splash of white on the leg is the icing on the cake!

2.       The dye treatment:  Each one is unique, just like the girl wearing them.  In design we were all excited to compare our tie-dyes.

3.      The versatility:  You feel good wearing these with boots or gladiators and a cute bohemian top, barefoot on the beach with a slubby cotton white tee, or with uggs and a sweatshirt for chilly morning rides to yoga!

Recommended for Spring : The prAna Mens Linear Short (video)

February 18th, 2011

Recently, we asked all of the men here at prAna what their favorite new spring style was. The tallies have been counted and, not to our surprise, the Men’s Linear Short was a top choice. A hybrid for multi-sport function, this short has kept up with anything we’ve put it up against. A little bit of stretch allows for mobility and the mesh pockets keep things lightweight without sacrificing utility. If you grab a pair, let us know what you think!

Message from Earth: Organic Matters (video)

October 20th, 2010

Anvil Knitwear premiered a digital short at Farm Aid 25: Growing Hope for America Concert on October 2. The thought provoking video educates consumers about the impact of pesticide use on the environment and farmers and encourages consumers to support organic farmers. “The Message from Earth: Organic Matters digital short unveiled this weekend at Farm Aid is our latest initiative to reach both farmers and consumers and educate on the benefits of organic farming,” said Anthony Corsano, Anvil Knitwear CEO. “We believe that if farmers and consumers alike understand the impact of organic farming practices, they will make better choices.”

October Is Fair Trade Month!

October 1st, 2010

October 1 marks the first day of Fair Trade month sponsored by Fair Trade USA. Many of you will recognize this logo as a symbol of empowering workers to lift themselves out of poverty by investing in their farms, businesses, and communities, protecting the environment, and developing the business skills necessary to compete in the global marketplace.

Each October Fair Trade brands, communities, supporters and more come together to bring awareness to the value of Fair Trade. This year there is a lot going on – Fair Trade USA has updated their name and messaging (from Transfair).  And they have expanded their certification to apparel and linen products.

Fair Trade certification for Apparel and Linens is the first social, economic, and environmental standard that directly benefits the farmers who grow the cotton and the workers who sew the garments.

The model for Fair Trade Certified apparel and linens feature the following:

  • Factories commit to uphold internationally recognized labor standards and to provide greater benefits to workers. Factories must also be held accountable through inspections and grievance processes.
  • Buyers commit to sourcing plans that include longer-term business relationships and prices that help factories consistently uphold labor standards and provide lasting benefits to workers.
  • Consumers can easily identify products that meet these standards. Evidence shows that they are willing to pay more for Fair Trade Certified products—pushing more money back into the value chain.

Workers earn more and have a voice in the workplace.
