prAna: Sustainable Clothing

If you have ordered anything from prAna in the last few months you may have noticed something different with the package that you received your prAna products in?

In our continuous effort to promote conservation and positive change… prAna is taking packaging back to basics.

The plastic bags that we were shipping our products in were made of plastic LDPE #4, a soft plastic that is often very difficult to recycle because many recycling haulers do not accept soft plastics. So we started researching how we can help our customers reduce what gets sent to landfill from prAna. We came across a paper mailer; it was sturdy, beautiful and being used by other companies for their direct mailing. So we started doing some of our own tests, we mailed products all across the country and then had it sent back, we asked for feedback and got great responses about the bag

One comment was – I prefer the paper mailer because it is easy to reuse. If a person didn’t want to reuse the paper mailer, they can easily recycle it – Anjie

The difference this change makes

• The move to a paper bag will save over 2,500 pounds of plastic in one year.
• Even better the paper is 100% recycled paper content.
• If you open the bag via the pull tab it can be reused again.
