Great list as everyone has mentioned! But the matter of fact is that this list is not complete without the mention of "Shrimad Bhagwad Geeta" which is the religious book of hinduism and base of yoga.
I hope it helps!

Nice list, but why so snide about Kimberly Wilson? 'Cause you're, like, so much more enlightened than her?

Also: The Bhagavad Gita; Yoga Mala; Hatha Yoga Pradipika

Um... yeah... How could you possibly have a book list about yoga and not include the Bhagavad-Gita? Swami Rama's Perennial Psychology of the Bhagavd Gita is a good translation and thorough explanation. Given that Amazon is ALWAYS sold out of this book, someone must be reading it.

These books may be harder to find...
Self Knowledge by Swami Abhedananda is excellent, but anything he writes is as is anything written by Swami Vivekananda. For people interested in Bhakti Yoga, the best example I know of is the Nobel Prize winning Gitanjali. Hatha Yoga Pradipika by Swatmaram as translated by Swami Muktibodhananda

For books more consistent with "westernized yoga", Yoga for Dummies (ed 1 or 2) by Georg Feuerstein and Larry Payne is a great resource, Yoga for Beginners by Mark Ansari, Athletes Pocket Guide to Yoga by Sage Rountree are the other books I consistently use.

Despite the criticism, thank you for compiling list. It's been helpful especially when it comes to the yoga for children books.
