Dear Armando.
I liked a lot your article. It's an incredible story that serves as a thread to tell the development of sport in the island through donations and support.
I remember very well that headband of Prana, Aníbal kept it a good time. I still have my Prana shorts, a climbing clothes that Craig brought to the island. I brought it to Spain when I left the island, was one of my most prized possessions, too many memories and experiences associated with it. This simple piece reminded me of my brothers, who left behind. Brothers to climb for many years. I still climb with the shorts, when I have some free time between my studies of insects in the woods here.
Some time ago I found pictures of Aníbal, Vity and I climbing on Mr. Mogote and another in 1996 at the Morro Castle with Aníbal and climbing with a harness that I sewed by hand, because I had no sewing machine as Vity, looking at a model that appeared in a catalog of Petzl. After a year of use and multiple falls, I survived. Aníbal always said that I should retain that harness for the future "Cuban Museum of Cimbing". Jaaaa jajaja...
During my visit to Cuba in December 2009 I had the opportunity, after nine years, returning to Viñales Valley with my little son Franco, a special place for me as you know, where the climbing fever started in the island. Now, Franky makes his first moves in the blocks that are next to the horrible Mural of Prehistory, in the valley. I think Franky will love climbing and nature, just like me.
A big hug. I hope we meet soon.
May the force be with you, Compañero.
