HERA – Climb For Life

The HERA Women’s Cancer Foundation was founded by Sean Patrick, an ovarian cancer survivor and climber. HERA is an all volunteer organization enabling the foundation to give at least 85% of the money raised directly to ovarian cancer research and to aid women and their families battling this disease. prAna athletes have continually supported the HERA events with climbing clinics and yoga instruction.

American Alpine Club

American Alpine Club was founded in 1902 and is the leading national organization in the United States devoted to mountaineering, climbing, and the multitude of issues facing climbers. The organization provides knowledge and inspiration, conservation and advocacy, and logistical support to the climbing community.

California Wild Heritage Coalition

California Wild Heritage Coalition is a broad-based coalition with only one goal – to preserve California’s unprotected wilderness and wild rivers for future generations to enjoy. After years of lobbying – two of which prAna actively participated in – the Northern California Coastal Wild Heritage Wilderness Act passed as a critical conservation measure. The Act designates roughly 275,000 acres in California’s North Coast as wilderness and grants wild scenic status to 21 miles of the Black Butte River.

Friends of Joshua Tree

Friends of Joshua Tree is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the historical tradition of climbing in Joshua Tree National Park. Friends of Joshua Tree advocates, communicates, and encourages ethical and environmentally sound climbing practices, and works to shape park policy on climbing and climbing-related issues. The Friends of Joshua Tree acts as the liaison between the climbing community and the National Park service to keep the rock in Joshua Tree National Park open to climbers. prAna has worked with Friends of Josh in the development of environmental initiatives, the annual Climb Smart event and service projects.

American Mountain Guides Association

For over 30 years, the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) has been dedicated to supporting the guiding community through excellence in education, standards and certification to enhance the quality of services provided to the public, while serving as a resource for accessing and protecting the natural environment. As a group the AMGA presents a strong, unified voice for high standards of the professionalism of guiding and climbing instruction in the United States. The AMGA is an organization grounded in powerful tradition that continues to evolve with the ever changing arena of mountain guiding and climbing instruction. We offer a series of training courses and exams designed to certify guides and climbing instructors to the highly respected, internationally recognized, standards of the AMGA. The AMGA is US representative to the International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations (IFMGA), the international governing body responsible for guiding standards and education around the world.

International Mountain Bike Association

IMBA was founded in 1988 by a group of California mountain bike clubs concerned about the closure of trails to cyclists. These pioneering clubs believed that mountain biker-education programs and innovative trail management solutions should be developed and promoted. While this first wave of threatened trail access was concentrated in California, IMBA’s pioneers saw that crowded trails and trail-user conflict were fast becoming worldwide recreation issues. This is why they chose “International Mountain Bicycling Association” as the organization’s name. IMBA’s mission has always been to protect, create, and enhance quality trail experiences for mountain bikers worldwide. In addition, actively promote responsible mountain biking, support volunteer trailwork, assist land managers with trail management issues, and improve relations among trail user groups.

Ouray Ice Festival

Ouray Ice Festival held in January, is an international gathering of ice climbers, gear manufacturing exhibitors, and ice climbing voyeurs simply thrilled to watch at a safe distance from the precipitous edges. The festival was first held in January of 1996 and promoted by ice climbing pioneer Jeff Lowe. Events over the weekend include various climbing clinics from beginning to advanced, an opportunity to check out and try the latest and greatest gear and catch up with some of the world’s most famous and experienced climbers.

New River Alliance of Climbers

New River Alliance of Climbers is a local non-profit climber group in the New River Gorge area. The organization began in the 1990’s to be the voice of the climbing community in the area and advocate to the local park service. In May, the New River Alliance of Climbers puts on their annual fundraising gig called the New River Rendezvous. It’s a fun and friendly three-day celebration of climbers, climbing and the New River Gorge.

Southeast Climbers Coalition

Southeast Climbers Coalition is a non-profit corporation dedicated to preserving climbing access in the Southeast. They started in 1993 when a group of climbers banded together to help out with ongoing access issues at Sunset Rock, atop Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The Southeastern Climbers Coalition aims to provide an ongoing means for climbers throughout the area to come together and respond effectively to access threats to crags, as well as the impacts of increasing use.
